A new hybrid social space in the Greek islands, Scorpios, Mykonos is a super dreamy bar/lounge/restaurant. Not only do I want to be back in on the beaches of Greece (yes, please!), I want to be hanging out here, sipping a rosemary mojito. Located in a natural reserve on the southern part of the island, Scorpios overlooks both Paraga and Kavos lagoons. The same creative minds that brought San Giorgio Mykonos to life are behind this new beach lounge spot. If you ask me, their messaging is spot on…
“The Scorpios project is about opening people´s senses and hearts. Nothing should be too overbearing but just right; subtle, pleasing, beautiful, fresh, allowing you to let for fully, to dive into the experience.” Thomas Heyne
As Design Hotels continues to explore the evolution of social spaces (this one is modeled after a Greek agora) and travel desires of discerning wanderers, they have created another soon-to-be establishment of the moment for the gypset to flock to this year. Think less beach club and more, relaxed, organic design.
What we had in mind was something that retained the simplicity of a fisherman's cottage, more like a beach shack filled with much loved objects that have seen their share of sun and salt.
At the heart of the project lies the inspiration of “pure settings, cultural interactions, and the pleasure of finding connection in a foreign place,” which pretty much sums up what the new Millennial generation is looking for in travel – experiences and community.
Have a look, and if you find yourself in Mykonos before me, let me know how it is!
